# Tracking Plans and Event Schemas

Overview of the events Littledata tracks across major Shopify connections.

## Tracking plans and event schemas

This page lists the default events Littledata sends to each destination from your Shopify store. Use it to plan reports, audiences and flows, or to check what a destination should be receiving.

A shared tracking plan keeps event names the same across stores and destinations. That makes it easier to compare brands, build audiences and trust your attribution.

Each table shows where the event is tracked:

* **Browser**: tracked client-side, by the Littledata script on your storefront.
* **Server**: sent server-side by Littledata, from Shopify data.

You can turn events on or off for each destination. In the Littledata app, find the destination card, click the **⋯** menu on its card and choose **Settings**, then open the **Event Editor** tab.

### Google Analytics 4

The [Shopify to Google Analytics 4](https://help.littledata.io/integrations/shopify-to-google-analytics/how-it-works-shopify-to-ga4) connection uses browser and server-side tracking to keep your GA4 reports accurate.

| `page_view`           | A shopper views a page                       | Browser |
| `view_item_list`      | A shopper views a collection or product list | Browser |
| `select_content`      | A shopper clicks a product in a list         | Browser |
| `view_item`           | A shopper views a product page               | Browser |
| `view_cart`           | A shopper views the cart                     | Browser |
| `view_search_results` | A shopper views search results               | Browser |
| `sign_up`             | A shopper creates an account                 | Browser |
| `login`               | A shopper logs in                            | Browser |
| `share`               | A shopper shares content                     | Browser |
| `add_to_cart`         | A shopper adds a product to the cart         | Server  |
| `remove_from_cart`    | A shopper removes a product from the cart    | Server  |
| `begin_checkout`      | A shopper starts checkout                    | Server  |
| `add_shipping_info`   | A shopper adds shipping information          | Server  |
| `add_payment_info`    | A shopper adds payment information           | Server  |
| `purchase`            | A shopper places an order                    | Server  |
| `upsell`              | A shopper accepts a post-purchase upsell     | Server  |
| `refund`              | An order is refunded                         | Server  |

If you use [Recharge](https://help.littledata.io/sources/recharge), Littledata also sends these server-side subscription events to GA4:

| `subscription_updated`       | A customer changes a subscription  |
| `subscription_cancelled`     | A customer cancels a subscription  |
| `subscription_skipped`       | A customer skips an upcoming order |
| `subscription_charge_failed` | A subscription charge fails        |

### Segment

The [Shopify to Segment](https://help.littledata.io/integrations/shopify-to-segment) connection is the approved Shopify source for Segment. It follows Segment's ecommerce spec, so the events work with common Segment destinations like Snowflake, Mixpanel, Amplitude, Braze, Iterable and Klaviyo.

| Registration Viewed     | A shopper views the registration page          | Browser |

| Customer Updated        | A customer account is updated (off by default) | Server  |

If you use [Recharge](https://help.littledata.io/sources/recharge), Littledata also sends Subscription Created, Subscription Updated, Subscription Cancelled, Subscription Skipped and Subscription Charge Failed to Segment.

### Meta Conversions API

The [Shopify to Meta Conversions API](https://help.littledata.io/integrations/facebook-capi/how-it-works-shopify-to-meta-conversions-api) connection uses browser and server-side tracking to improve event match quality and attribution in Meta Ads.

| Post purchase upsell | A shopper accepts a post-purchase upsell | Server  |

### Klaviyo

The [Shopify to Klaviyo](https://help.littledata.io/integrations/shopify-klaviyo/how-it-works-shopify-to-klaviyo) connection uses identity resolution and server-side tracking to send more identified profiles and events to Klaviyo. All Klaviyo events are sent server-side.

| Placed Order - Littledata      | A shopper places an order                 |

### Attentive

The [Shopify to Attentive](https://help.littledata.io/integrations/attentive/how-it-works-shopify-to-attentive) connection sends pre-purchase events that power browse and cart abandonment journeys. Both events are sent server-side.

### TikTok

The [Shopify to TikTok](https://help.littledata.io/integrations/tiktok/how-it-works) connection uses the TikTok Events API to improve data quality, match rates and ROAS in TikTok Ads.

| CompletePayment  | A shopper places an order            | Server  |

### Pinterest

The [Shopify to Pinterest](https://help.littledata.io/integrations/shopify-to-pinterest/how-it-works) connection improves Pinterest Ads tracking for better retargeting and audience building.

| `pagevisit`    | A shopper views a page               | Browser |
| `viewcategory` | A shopper views a collection         | Browser |
| `add_to_cart`  | A shopper adds a product to the cart | Server  |
| `checkout`     | A shopper places an order            | Server  |

`checkout` is Pinterest's standard event for a completed purchase, not for starting checkout.

### Google Ads and Microsoft Ads

The [Google Ads](https://help.littledata.io/integrations/google-ads/google-ads-how-it-works) and [Microsoft Ads](https://help.littledata.io/integrations/microsoft-ads) connections send server-side purchase conversions. Google Ads can also receive a View Item List conversion from the browser.
