# How to add edit permissions for Google Analytics and GTM

## How to add edit permissions for GA4 and Google Tag Manager

This guide shows you how to give another user edit access to your GA4 account and your Google Tag Manager (GTM) container.

For an audit, **Viewer** access to GA4 is enough. Give **Editor** access only when the user needs to change settings or create a new GA4 property.

### Grant Editor access in GA4

**Editor** is the second highest role in GA4. A user needs it at account level to create a new property. To add or change users, you need the **Administrator** role yourself.

**Open Account access management**

In GA4, click **Admin** at the bottom left. Under **Account settings**, click **Account access management**.

**Give an existing user the Editor role**

If the user is already listed, click their row, select **Editor** and click **Save**.

**Or add a new user**

Click the **+** button at the top right and choose **Add users**. Enter the user's email address, select **Editor** and click **Add**.

The email address must be linked to a Google account.

**Check that it works**

Ask the user to click **Admin** > **Create** > **Property**. If they can start creating a property, their access is set up.

### Grant Edit access in Google Tag Manager

For an audit, the user needs at least **Edit** access to your GTM container. To add users, you need **Administrator** access yourself.

**Open User Management**

In GTM, click **Admin** at the top. Under **Container**, click **User Management**.

**Add a user**

Click the **+** button at the top right and choose **Add users**.

**Choose Edit permissions**

Enter the user's email address and check **Edit**. This also includes **Read**.

**Send the invite**

Click **Invite** at the top right. The user gets an email invite to your GTM container.
