# Track all your sales channels

Why orders from Shopify sales channels like POS, the Shop app and social shops are hard to attribute, and how to exclude channels from GA4.

Shopify lets you sell through many channels, from subscriptions to social shops. Orders from these channels often have no clear marketing source. This page explains why, and how to choose which channels Littledata sends to GA4.

### How Littledata handles sales channels

Littledata sends orders from your other sales channels to GA4 too, not only orders from your online store checkout. Each purchase includes the name of the sales channel or app that created it, so you can report on each channel separately. See [Track Shopify sales channels in GA4](https://help.littledata.io/google-analytics/acquisition/how-to-track-shopify-sales-channels-in-ga4) to learn how to use this in your reports.

{% hint style="info" %}
Shopify POS orders are excluded from GA4 by default. You can change this in your GA4 settings. See [How to exclude sales channels from GA4](#how-to-exclude-sales-channels-from-ga4).
{% endhint %}

### Why some channels are hard to attribute

Many sales channels don't send shoppers through your website first. That makes it hard to link the order to the marketing that drove it.

| Sales channel | Why attribution is hard |
| ------------------------------------------ | ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| Subscription orders | Renewal orders aren't directly linked to the first marketing touchpoint that led to the subscription. |
| Shopify POS | In-person sales happen offline, separate from your online marketing. |
| Native mobile apps | App activity is often separate from web tracking. Linking the two needs consistent user IDs across both. |
| Shop app | Shoppers browse and buy inside the app, so it's hard to see how they arrived. |
| Amazon orders | Amazon keeps customer activity inside its own platform. |
| Facebook & Instagram shops and TikTok Shop | These platforms show results inside their own tools, but it's hard to link sales to marketing outside them, like an email campaign. |
| Codisto and other marketplace sync tools | Listings are shared across marketplaces like eBay, Amazon and Walmart, so data is split across platforms. |

Knowing which channel an order came from helps you:

* Follow customer journeys across channels.
* Compare marketing results across platforms.
* Decide which channels to focus on.
