# How to check Profit Signal in Meta

Once Profit Signal is enabled on your Meta connection, Littledata adds the profit of each order to the purchase event as `net_revenue`. This guide shows you how to confirm Meta is receiving it, and what else Meta needs before you can optimize on profit.

## Confirm Meta is receiving profit

{% stepper %}
{% step %}

### Open your dataset

In Meta Events Manager, open the dataset connected to Littledata.
{% endstep %}

{% step %}

### Switch the columns view

From the dropdown, select **Columns: Value and currency metrics**.

{% endstep %}

{% step %}

### Open the Purchase event

Click into the **Purchase** event.
{% endstep %}

{% step %}

### Check the Profit card

If the Profit card says **Available**, Meta is receiving the profit values Littledata sends as `net_revenue`. You can now base your campaigns on profit.

{% endstep %}
{% endstepper %}

{% hint style="info" %}
Only orders processed after you enabled Profit Signal carry `net_revenue`. If you have just turned it on, you will need to wait up to 7 days before checking
{% endhint %}

## Why Profit can still be greyed out in Ads Manager

Receiving `net_revenue` is the first requirement, not the only one. Before the Profit option becomes selectable, Meta's [value optimization for profit](https://developers.facebook.com/documentation/ads-commerce/conversions-api/guides/value-optimization-for-profit/overview) documentation also requires:

* At least 3 distinct positive profit values across your purchase events
* At least 100 conversions over a one-week period

Meta also recommends at least 30 daily conversions per campaign.

Until both requirements are met, Profit stays greyed out in Ads Manager with a warning icon.

{% hint style="info" %}
Meta also says profit values should not be a fixed percentage of the purchase value. If they are, optimizing for profit gives the same results as optimizing for purchase value. If you only set a global margin, add product-specific margins in Profit Signal so profit varies across your products.
{% endhint %}

## If the Profit card is not showing as available

Work through these in order:

1. **Check the connection.** Profit Signal is enabled per destination. Confirm Meta is one of the destinations you selected in the Littledata app.
2. **Check for new orders.** Historical orders are not backfilled. You need purchases that happened after Profit Signal was switched on.
3. **Check your margins.** If no margin is configured, there is no profit to send.
4. **Give it time.** Meta can take up to 7 days to light the option up after the data starts arriving.
