# How destination settings behave with Shopify Markets

How Littledata destination settings behave before and after you enable the Shopify Markets module.

This article explains how Littledata destination settings behave before you enable the Shopify Markets module, while it's on, and after you turn it off.

| Markets module | Settings applied         | Destination ID                | Per-market settings |
| -------------- | ------------------------ | ----------------------------- | ------------------- |
| Disabled | One global configuration | One destination ID | Not used |
| Enabled        | Per-market configuration | Destination ID set per market | Active              |

### Before enabling Markets

Before you enable Shopify Markets, each destination has one global configuration. It includes things like the destination ID, which events you send and any filters you've set up. You can think of this as one default market. Whatever you set for the destination applies everywhere your store sells.

### After enabling Markets

Once you enable Markets, Littledata treats each market as its own configuration. Destination settings become per-market, so you can choose different destination IDs, events or filters for different markets.

Here is what happens to your settings when Markets is enabled:

* Only market-aware destinations are affected.
* Each active market gets its own configuration for each destination.
* Each market starts from the destination's current settings, including its destination ID.
* Some options are reset to defaults for each new market. For example, all events are turned on, and order and product identifiers go back to their defaults. Some filters are also reset.

### Market lifecycle

* **New market in Shopify:** Littledata sets it up automatically, starting from the destination's current settings with the defaults above applied.
* **Market moved to draft in Shopify:** Littledata hides it, but keeps its settings stored.
* **Market deleted in Shopify:** Littledata removes it.
* **Draft market made active again:** Littledata shows it again. Any per-market settings you had customized for it are kept.

{% hint style="info" %}
**Example**

If you move the UK market to draft in Shopify, it disappears from Littledata. If you make it active again, it comes back with the settings you had customized for it.
{% endhint %}

### Disabling Markets

When you disable Markets, destinations stop being market-aware. Each destination goes back to its global configuration, with the event toggles and filters it had before. Your per-market settings stay stored, but aren't used.

{% hint style="info" %}
**Example**

Before Markets was enabled, the **page\_view** event was disabled in the GA4 settings. Once Markets was enabled, **page\_view** was turned on for each market.

When Markets was disabled again, **page\_view** went back to being disabled.
{% endhint %}

### Re-enabling Markets

When you re-enable Markets, destinations become market-aware again. Markets you had customized before get their stored per-market settings back. Markets that are new since you last used the module start from the destination's current settings with the defaults applied.

{% hint style="success" %}
Turning Markets off and on again doesn't lose your settings. Disabling Markets brings back your global setup, and re-enabling it brings back your per-market settings.
{% endhint %}
