# Tracking Shopify POS orders

How Littledata tracks and attributes Shopify POS orders, which destinations receive them, and why they count towards your plan.

[Shopify POS](https://www.shopify.com/pos) lets you sell in person, in a store, at a market or at a pop-up. Littledata tracks these point of sale (POS) orders from Shopify's servers, the same way it tracks online orders.

### Can POS orders be attributed to marketing?

Yes, when the customer gives their email address at checkout.

Littledata matches that email to the customer's earlier visits to your online store, which we recognise from our cookie or the [Littledata Pixel](https://help.littledata.io/sources/shopify/littledata-pixel). The POS order is then linked to the campaign that first brought them to your website.

For example, a shopper clicks one of your Meta ads and browses your store, then buys in your shop a week later. If they give the same email address at the till, the purchase reaches Meta and GA4 credited to that ad.

A POS order with no email address, or from someone who has never visited your website, can't be linked to a visit. It is still tracked, but with no marketing attribution.

### Which destinations receive POS orders?

POS orders are sent as normal purchases to GA4, Google Ads, Microsoft Ads, Meta, Pinterest, TikTok and Segment.

When you add one of these connections, **Shopify POS** starts on its **Order channels exclusion list**, so POS orders are not sent until you choose to send them. Each destination has its own list.

To send POS orders to a destination:

{% stepper %}
{% step %}
**Open the destination settings**

In the Littledata app, find the destination card, click the **⋯** menu on its card and choose **Settings**.
{% endstep %}

{% step %}
**Open Data customization**

Open the **Data customization** tab.
{% endstep %}

{% step %}
**Remove Shopify POS**

In **Order channels exclusion list**, remove **Shopify POS**.
{% endstep %}
{% endstepper %}

See [how to exclude orders by order channel](https://help.littledata.io/advanced/troubleshooting/how-to-exclude-orders-by-source) for more on this list.

Segment connections set up before this default may already be sending POS orders. In Segment, a POS order comes through as a **POS Order Placed** event.

#### Klaviyo and Attentive

Klaviyo receives POS orders. Littledata sends a **Placed Order - Littledata** event to Klaviyo for every order, including POS orders. Klaviyo has no order channels exclusion list. To tell POS orders apart in Klaviyo, use the event's **Source Name** property, which is `pos` for POS orders.

Littledata doesn't send order events to Attentive, so POS orders don't reach Attentive through Littledata.

### Why do POS orders count towards my plan?

Your plan is priced on all your Shopify orders, including POS orders. POS orders are tracked like any other order, and when the customer gives an email address they can be attributed to the marketing that brought them in.

Your order count is the same whether or not you send POS orders to a destination. Excluding them changes where the data goes, not what you pay. See [choosing the right plan for your store](https://help.littledata.io/accounts-and-billing/choosing-a-plan) for how orders are priced.
