How to stop GA4 automigration

Updated on 2024-01-19

Google Analytics built an auto-migration feature for simple web properties trying to set up GA4. We do not recommend turning this auto-migration on, as it will not provide accurate enhanced ecommerce tracking.

If you are seeing this red banner to "Complete Setup", and there is no "Dismiss" option, you can remove it using these steps.

note:

Universal Analytics is sunsetting on July 1st 2024, so you will have to do this as soon as possible to prevent all your previous data from being permanently deleted

This property is not fully set up. You can complete the recommended setup checklist in the Setup Assistant.

Stopping the UA -> GA4 auto-migration will not impact your Littledata tracking.

Open the Google Analytics admin panel:

Once you are in the Admin panel, here's what you have to do in order to get rid of the unnecessary and incorrect warning:

  1. Go to your UA property
  2. Choose GA4 Setup Assistant from the list
  3. Click "Disconnect" button on the right-hand side. Please note that this button is clickable only if you have admin access level to GA account.
